Raise funds for ESR
with online activities

ESR is a member of GoodSearch.com, a new Yahoo-powered search engine that works with its sister site, GoodShop.com to raise money for charities.

Use Goodsearch.com for your Internet search engine and earn money for ESR each time you conduct an online search. Make sure to visit GoodSearch.com to designate ESR as your charity of choice before you begin your search.

The sister site, GoodShop.com, is an online shopping mall that donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Again, make sure you designate ESR as your charity of choice before placing your online order.

Please be sure to spread the word! The more people involved, the more money ESR can raise.

ESR introduces retail product that is for the birds

bird pictureA new retail venture may be for the birds, but it is providing employment opportunities for ESR consumers.

ESR is launching a line of bird seed products, known as Birders Select, in partnership with the Polk County Adult Development Center (PCADC) in Balsam Lake, Wis. Consumers served by the two agencies mix, package and label the seeds into blends designed to appeal to different birds. With names like “Finch Fancy,” “Cardinal Diet,” and “Songbird Buffet,” it’s easy to determine which feathered friends the mixes seek to attract. Learn more and place your order today!

East Suburban Resources (ESR) provides supported employment services to adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs. While our focus is on helping individuals with disabilities find and retain jobs, community integration is the recurring theme in our guiding principles and forms the foundation for all we do.

Why is community integration the core of what we do?

ESR believes community integration:

--Helps our communities overcome misconceptions about individuals with disabilities;

--Allows persons with disabilities opportunities to be productive, contributing members of their communities through naturally supported employment;

--Gives persons with disabilities more confidence, helps them achieve more independence, teaches them life and work skills and provides them the opportunity to earn an income.

--With ongoing staff encouragement and support, ESR provides consumers a variety of employment opportunities that match their skills and interests, while our community integration activities provide opportunities for growth and learning experiences in the community.

East Suburban Resources supports more than 120 adults with developmental disabilities in independent jobs in the community by partnering with more than 100 east metro-area businesses. The agency provides support to dozens of additional consumers who are employed on work crews, working side-by-side with job coaches at businesses throughout our community. At its three community program sites in Stillwater, Cottage Grove and Forest Lake, ESR supports more than 100 consumers who complete packaging, assembly, mailing projects and more for area businesses
