ESR introduces retail product that is strictly for the birds

bird graphic A new retail venture may be for the birds, but it is providing employment opportunities
for ESR consumers.

ESR has launched a line of bird seed products that is mixed, packaged and labeled by those the agency serves. The seed mixes have names like “Finch Fancy,” “Cardinal Diet,” and “Songbird Buffet,” making it easy to determine which feathered friends they seek to attract. Learn more and order yours today!

East Suburban Resources (ESR) is a private, nonprofit organization that believes in a community where quality of life for all people is enhanced through inclusion in community life and access to employment.

While our focus is on helping individuals with disabilities find and retain jobs, community integration is the recurring theme in our guiding principles and forms the foundation for all we do.

ESR believes community integration:

--Helps our communities overcome misconceptions about individuals with disabilities;

--Allows persons with disabilities opportunities to be productive, contributing members of their communities through naturally supported employment;

--Gives persons with disabilities more confidence, helps them achieve more independence, teaches them life and work skills and provides them the opportunity to earn an income.

--With ongoing staff encouragement and support, ESR provides consumers a variety of employment opportunities that match their skills and interests, while our community integration activities provide opportunities for growth and learning experiences in the community.

East Suburban Resources supports the employment needs of more than 300 adults with developmental disabilities by partnering with more than 150 east metro area businesses.

Our consumers work in naturally supported jobs in the community, as members of work crews under the direct supervision of a job coach or as employees of our community sites where they complete light assembly, packaging and mailing projects for businesses throughout the metro area.
