ESR gains CARF accreditation for fourth consecutive time

East Suburban Resources, Inc. has achieved its fourth consecutive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) attesting to its ongoing commitment to setting high standards in providing employment support to adults with developmental disabilities.

The three-year accreditation is the highest level granted by CARF, a leading, independent, nonprofit accrediting body of human services since 1966. With guidance from the field, including providers, funders, and, most important, the persons receiving services and their families, CARF develops standards that are focused on outcomes and the satisfaction of the persons served.  Organizations receiving the three-year accreditation have completed a rigorous peer review process and demonstrated to surveyors that its programs and services are high quality, as well as measurable and accountable. ESR has achieved accreditation continuously for the last 12 years.

"This achievement is an indication of your organization's dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served," said Brian J. Boon, CARF president and chief executive officer, in granting the accreditation. "Services, personnel and documentation clearly indicate an established pattern of practice excellence."

The CARF accreditation came with some recommendations that ESR will implement in coming months as part of its ongoing commitment to self-improvement. Those recommendations include such things as enhancing policies and procedures in risk management, technology and crisis management to more closely reflect CARF standards.

"We appreciate the rigor of the accreditation process," said Ed Boeve, ESR executive director. "It helps us stay focused on continuous improvement of our policies and procedures, and is a good opportunity for us to examine how well we are meeting the needs of our consumers."
