ESR's Team Council newsletter
Cottage Grove
October 2008

We are keeping busy with old and new contracts. We are also keeping busy with nonwork and community activities. We have been learning about recycling as one of our monthly themes. During another monthly theme we visited the Target Center where we saw a really tall basketball player. We recently visited an apple orchard. We learned about different apples and saw some leaves starting to change colors.

What's new with team council?
We have had a very busy summer. In June we had a Bring-a-Friend Picnic, in August we visited a fire station, and in September we had our pizza party!

Team council members' thoughts on the events:

Bring-a-Friend picnic:
Amy: The speakers spoke clearly. It was a nice beautiful day. The speakers talked about self advocacy and James when he came to speak to us."

Julie: "They also talked about safety. They reminded us about safety in the workplace and why it is ipmortant to be safe at work."

Amy and Julie: "We had fund and would like to do it again next year."

White Bear Lake Fire Station visit:
Amy: "ESR Supervisor Christine and Fire Chief Mike showed us around and talked about fires. They said we shouldn't call 911 from inside, we should go outside to do it. They also said you should stop, drop and roll if your clothes catch on fire. We got to take a look inside the fire truck, it is huge! The firefighters were very friendly."

Julie: "We learned you need to check your smoke detectors often. We also got to tour the ambulance, it was nice inside. Lunch at McDonalds afterwards was really fun too!"
