East Suburban Resources, Inc., is a private, nonprofit (501 [c] 3) agency in
Stillwater supporting adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs
in community-based employment.
Established in 1964, the agency offers adults with disabilities in the east metro area
a menu of services, strengthened through partnerships with area businesses, cities
and schools.
East Suburban Resources supports about 125 adults with developmental disabilities
in independent jobs in the community. We also support more than 90 consumers on
work crews, where three or four of the individuals we serve work side-by-side with
job coaches at sites throughout our community. At our
program sites in Stillwater, Cottage Grove, Oakdale
and Forest Lake, ESR supports consumers who
complete packaging, assembly,mailing projects
and more for area businesses.
All told, ESR serves more than 340 adults
with disabilities in and around Washington County.
Among our many innovative partnerships is our work
with the Washington County’s Workforce Center and
the Minnesota Family Investment Program. This
partnership, known as Partners for Success,
supports adults whose special needs
may present barriers to employment. Hundreds of
people have successfully found employment through
the program, giving them the tools they need to be
self-sufficient.
--Each individual has value.
--Every individual should be treated with dignity and respect.
--Every individual is capable of growth and learning through
community experiences.
--Every individual has the right to experience life and
participate in activities in the most natural settings through
whatever adaptations are necessary.
--Every individual should be an active and visible participant
in his/her community.
--Every individual has the right, and should have the
opportunity, to be the primary decisionmaker in his/her life.
