ESR has a long history of service to the community
East Suburban Resources, Inc., is a private, nonprofit agency in Stillwater supporting adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs in community-based employment. Established in 1964, the agency offers adults with disabilities in the east metro area a variety of services, many of which are strengthened through partnerships with other area agencies and businesses.
East Suburban Resources supports 125 adults with developmental disabilities in independent jobs in the community by partnering with more than 100 east metro-area businesses. The agency provides support to an additional 60 consumers who are employed on work crews, working side-by-side with job coaches at businesses throughout our community. At its three community program sites in Stillwater, Cottage Grove and Forest Lake, ESR supports another 100 consumers who complete packaging, assembly, mailing projects and more for area businesses.
In an innovative partnership with Washington County’s Workforce Center and the Minnesota Family Investment Program, ESR also provides employment supports to adults whose special needs may present obstacles to employment. This program, known as Partners for Success, pairs job seekers with job developers in an effort to secure employment. Hundreds of people have been successfully supported through the program, gaining the tools they need to become self-sufficient through employment.
Additionally, ESR’s Stillwater headquarters is home to DataAbility, a data processing business staffed by individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. Program participants perform a variety of duties, including typing letters, and creating and updating mailing lists using state-of-the-art adaptive equipment.
